The Engagement Phase
Summer School for Interims - IEA Class #19

The Interim Executives Academy provides rigorous training and mentoring for interim leaders serving nonprofit organizations in short-term, senior-level engagements. Eight weekly online sessions provide 20 hours of learning that explores Third Sector Company’s strategic approach to transformational interim leadership. Academy participants also receive a comprehensive package of professional support services.

Learn more about each session in the Fact Sheet.

The Interim Executives Academy represents two decades of Third Sector Company’s experiences in developing, testing, and refining interim management tools, service protocols, leadership models, and training curricula to support interim leaders of nonprofit organizations, associations, and congregations. Over eight weeks, the Interim Executives Academy offers a deep-dive experience that includes lectures, cameo presenters and roundtable discussions, led by a four-person faculty deeply experienced in nonprofit and interim leadership. At the conclusion of the Academy, participants will be awarded a certificate of completion and badge.

The Academy experience includes the following comprehensive package of support services:

  • Interim Executives Research to Practice Forum connects current research in the sector to the unique work of interims. The Forum provides an opportunity to discuss the research with cohort members, practicing interims, and others interested in transitional leadership.
  • Interim Executives Academy LinkedIn Group is an invitation-only social media forum for Academy registrants and alumni to post questions, participate in discussions and access Academy materials.
  • Interim Executives Academy Career Clinic is an opportunity to explore the best ways to develop an interim leadership practice and to further understand securing engagements on your own and through Third Sector.

The course workbook, The Nonprofit Interim Chief Executive is available from Lulu Publishing, and should be purchased prior to the start of class to ensure that participants are prepared for the first session. We look forward to have you as part of our shared learning experience!

We acknowledge and honor the fundamental value and dignity of all people; and we pledge our individual and organizational efforts to build respect, dignity, caring, and equitable treatment for all. As an organization, we are committed to transforming the world into one that promotes social justice and freedom from oppression, including but not limited to, racism, sexism, classism, heterosexism, ageism, and ableism.

Thus, we aim to be adaptable, actively anti-racist, embracing cultural differences, and to be accessible for people who are differently resourced and differently abled. Since we do not want financial hardship to be a barrier to participation, there are several seats reserved in each of our fee-based programs for confidentially awarded scholarships. We encourage those from historically underserved communities to apply.
