Board Chairs Roundtable: Advisory Boards – Good Idea or Not?

Many community impact organizations employ an advisory board to bring on new board members and to keep around retiring members. What is important to know before considering establishing an advisory group or when re-examining an existing one? Join a conversation with fellow board leaders from around North America to discuss how an advisory board can effectively advance the goals of your organization and support genuine community engagement.

Key questions for discussion include:

  • What are the boundaries and framework for an advisory group to flourish?
  • Where does your advisory group sit within your governance model?
  • How can an advisory group advance your goals around DEIA (diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility)?

Board Chairs Roundtable is a monthly 90-minute online discussion among board members from across North America, offering a deep dive into key elements of nonprofit board governance. Participants pay $30 per session. (Six months of Roundtable fees are included in the Board Chairs Academy tuition to enrich the Academy experience for current participants.)

All Roundtables are sponsored by the Board Chairs Academy.
