Board Chairs Academy (Class #25) - Leadership Succession Planning

LEADERSHIP SUCCESSION PLANNING: Assuring a Continuity of Leadership to Advance the Cause. Assuring a continuity of leadership is one of the most important forms of resource development for a nonprofit organization’s sustainable future. This session offers a hallmark presentation of the mission statement of Third Sector Company. Board members and executive staff will be provided tools for cultivating a culture of leadership continuity and succession planning with a focus on evolving diversity, inclusion, equity, and access.

(Note: This page will register you for this module only. You may also register for the full series.)

Board Chairs Academy is a six-month online learning and virtual community experience to help board members of charitable organizations, associations and congregations excel at providing strategic governance to their favorite causes.

Board Chairs Academy presents six learning modules associated with evolving a nonprofit board. Each module begins with a 90-minute online presentation accompanied by a participant guide of handouts, readings and exercises. Concepts are then applied through the completion of specific assignments over a two-week period. Each module concludes with a second 90-minute online session that provides a brief review of the topic, invites discussion about the assignments, and uses small and large group interaction for participants to share their learning.

You may register for the full series here. For more detail about each session, view the Fact Sheet. The Board Chairs Academy is a cohort learning program introduced by Third Sector Company in 2006. Over 400 organizations have participated in the United States and Canada.

Third Sector Company, Inc. is committed to advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion as foundational to its programs.

We acknowledge and honor the fundamental value and dignity of all people; and we pledge our individual and organizational efforts to build respect, dignity, caring, and equitable treatment for all. As an organization, we are committed to transforming the world into one that promotes social justice and freedom from oppression, including but not limited to, racism, sexism, classism, heterosexism, ageism, and ableism.

Thus, we aim to be adaptable, actively anti-racist, embracing cultural differences, and to be accessible for people who are differently resourced and differently abled. Since we do not want financial hardship to be a barrier to participation, there are several seats reserved in each of our fee-based programs for confidentially awarded scholarships. We encourage those from historically underserved communities to apply.
